"We are Aiming Higher" Lewiston -Porter High School educates, empowers and inspires students to academic and personal excellence through a diverse, rigorous curriculum, innovative teaching, and spirited student life in a safe respectful environment. Please review our mission statement. The words have been chosen carefully to represent all the beliefs and values that underpin our great school. These words were specifically designed to align with belief statements and goals established for our Middle States reaccreditation process. Lewiston -Porter High School is the only public high school in Western New york accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The rigorous accreditaion for growth process has brought significant direction and focus for our entire school community over the past 18 months. I encourage visitors to our site to review all our Middle States documents posted on the high school home page. They will afford significant understanding for the hard work and committment that has been established by all stakeholders in an effort to make a good organization - great. The world we know is changing rapidly. Certainly here in Western New York and the Niagara Falls area in particular ,we have felt the impact of our changing world in a most dramatic way. Loss of industry, loss of jobs, loss of population, shrinking tax base have been the headlines of our times and our region over the past two decades. In spite of these issues, many of us who were born and raised in this area have grown to love it and care deeply about its future. In fact, if you speak to many of those that have been forced to leave for better economic circumstances, they will longingly speak of their upbringing in Western New York, the friendliness of the people, the rich history, the cultural and ethnic diversity, the food, the Bills and the Sabres and of course the short commute. In order for our region to rise again we have the duty and the responsibilty to create the kind of educational opportunity for our young men and women that will give them the skills and abilities to allow Western New York to be a player in the global economy. For those of us in education, it can be said that these are the best of times and the worst of times. A great challenge lies before us. Educators have the critical task of creating curricula and school programming that promotes both rigor and relevance in relation to student learning. At the same time, we must be responsive and accountable to the communities we serve. Here at Lewiston-Porter, we are blessed with very gifted students and wonderfully supportive parents. Our students do quite well in relation to New York State Department of Education accountability standards. We cannot, however, rest on our laurels. We must create and maintain high academic and personal expectations for our entire school community. If Western New York is to make a comeback, it will need be led by creative, innovative entrepreneurs who are willing to lead our region into the 21st century. I am convinced, having worked closely with the students of Lewiston-Porter High School, that it will be our students who will be our region's leaders of tomorrow. "Wise skepticism is the first attribute of a good critic." My door is always open and I am only a telephone call away. If you have any questions, concerns please feel free to call.
