As part of our Character Education Program, the Intermediate Education Center has partnered with the local chapter of Save-A-Pet.  This organization is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization with the goal of finding good homes for stray or unwanted cats and dogs.  They do not have a "shelter" building, so pets awaiting adoption are sheltered in homes of volunteers.

Each year we hold an annual pet food drive and a Save-A-Pet Art Gallery.  Our students work hard making dog and cat beds to sell, home-made biscuits, and works of art based upon the pets who are looking for a home.  In the past we have had a "Petting Zoo", where the students can have their picture taken with one of Mrs. Larson's (former IEC principal) pets.  This year we held a basket auction and pet show.  Students brought their pets and what a diverse turn out!  Pictured may be viewed on this site under "Pet Slide Show".
