Special Education
Special Education Office
The Department of Special Education encapsulates all the support services a student may need throughout their learning and programming. The department integrates all the related services and collaborates alongside the expertise of special education teachers. Although we are the Special Education Office, our department includes:
- Special education teachers
- Psychologists
- Occupational Therapists
- Physical Therapists
- Speech Language Pathologists
- Social Workers
- Counselors
- Hearing
- Vision
- English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
It is the responsibility of the district to teach and assess student progress. When the assessments show a student may need additional support, interventions will be provided and the student will be closely monitored. If a student’s performance continues to show a need for support, it is the responsibility of the Office of Special Education to conduct appropriate assessments and evaluations to determine what other supports may or may not be needed. This process will take place through the Committee of Special Education (CSE). The goal is to promote and establish educational equity in determining the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each student.
