        About The Teacher

Hi! I am so excited to be starting a new school year.

    Background information about me:

I have been a teacher here at Lewiston Porter for 19 years and am beginning my 20th year. During my tenure here, I have worked five years as a Special Education teacher, 10 years in a general education setting working in both first and second grade as a "looping teacher". I then took on the job as technology teacher for two years creating technology curriculum for grades K-5.  I returned to the elementary classroom 5 years ago and am now the new enrichment teacher working with students grade K-3.  I am very excited to be in this new position!

I hold an Associates in Arts degree in Humanities and Social Science, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Inclusion Elementary and Special Education and a Masters Degree in Science of Education; Literacy Instruction. In November 2008 I passed my National Boards for Professional Teaching Standards and am now a National Certified teacher in Early and Middle Childhood/Literacy:Reading-Language Arts.
I have also studied Choice Theory and Reality Therapy through the William Glasser Institute. In the summer of 2012 I attended The National Curriculum Mapping Institute and Academies.  During this experience I had 40 contact hours with many educational professionals and researchers such as Jay McTighe, Heidi Hayes Jacobs, Charlotte Danielson, Bena Kallick and a host of others. Last summer I continued my professional development by attending a two day conference on the Common Core and Literacy Instruction.
I am continually looking for ways to improve my teaching so that I can provide my students with the best instruction I possibly can.
