    Message from the Assistant Superintendent

    Hello,

I feel truly blessed to be a part of the Lewiston-Porter Central School District! Our office provides leadership, direction, and support to the district's academic programs and services leading to improved student learning outcomes. We coordinate and support curricula and instruction practices for all K-12 academic programs.

I am someone who prides myself on being approachable and visible. Your voice matters to me. For that reason, please know that my door is always open to you. Feel free to contact me via email at hlyon@lew-port.com, by phone at ext. 7244, or by simply visiting my office. There is no matter that is too big or too small to bring to my attention since, if it matters to you, it matters to me.

Secondly, I wanted to tell you a little about me. I became a certified Reading Specialist after completing my Master's degree in education at the University at Buffalo, and prior to that my Bachelor of Arts in English from Alfred University. Finally, I received my Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University at Buffalo.

In terms of my work history, just prior to working in LP, I was the Director of Elementary Education in Ken-Ton. Though I focused on elementary education in that role, I worked hand-in-hand with the Director of Secondary Education and Ken-Ton’s Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Student Services. Some additional highlights of my career include my work as an English Teacher, Staff Developer, Principal, Director of Instruction, and Superintendent. In each position, I was known for my leadership among students, faculty and staff, and my drive toward excellence for the entire school community.

I am also a very proud wife and mother who values the importance of personal/professional balance — which is so critical in a profession like ours. My husband and I have three children who make us smile and teach us the importance of patience and humor!

I am so honored to have the good fortune to “aim higher” with you as we bring our community the finest educational opportunities possible!  Again, please do not hesitate to let me know how we can work together.

    Sincerely,
    Heather Lyon
