German Foreign Exchange Students 2023

  • Lewiston - Porter welcomed 12 German Exchange students from Valentin Heider Gymnasium School in Lindau, Germany on October 14th,  for a three-week exchange program. While they are here, they have been working on a joint project with Mr. Sharpe and some of his Social 10 students.  Mr. Boxdoefer and Mrs. Meier, the German teachers chaperoning the students collaborated with Mr. Sharpe prior to their arrival to come up with the lessons the group could work on together.  Mr. Boxdoefer has created a blog  detailing the various excursions that students have enjoyed while they have been here and how it ties into their project.

The German students were hosted by Lewiston-Porter High School students and their families and are enjoying experiencing American daily life and cultures. So far, the students have enjoyed Lewiston-Porter's Homecoming Dance, and activities with their host families, such as a Fall bon-fire, Thanksgiving dinners, hikes in the Niagara Gorge, ArtPark,a Buffalo Bills watching party, LP athletics and so much more! The group is here through the end of the month and will leave on Wednesday, November 1st for NYC where they will stay for a few days before returning home to Germany.
